UGC Usage Rights Guide
The content you create and the permission to use it are two different parts of a deal. Write down what the brand can use, where it can use it and when that permission ends.
Separate creation from usage
The content fee covers the work you deliver. A usage fee covers the agreed permission to use that content. Keep the two amounts separate so a later usage renewal does not look like a second content-production charge.
Define the scope
Record whether the content is for organic channels, paid ads or creator-handle ads. Agree the specific platforms, territory and assets. Discuss edits, exclusivity and ad spend separately; one short usage label cannot capture every condition.
Choose a start and an end
Agree when the usage period starts, rather than assuming it starts on delivery. UGCPing counts the start date as day one: a 30-day period starting October 9 ends November 7. Calendar months and a fixed number of days can end on different dates.
Prepare for a renewal
Before expiry, ask whether the brand wants another period. Confirm the new scope, dates and fee in writing before recording an agreed renewal. A reminder is a chance to follow up, not evidence that the brand will renew or pay.
Keep the original period
Save each agreed period so you can see what changed. Keep payment status separate from the agreed fee: recording a renewal does not mark an invoice paid. UGCPing preserves previous renewal periods while tracking the next expiry.
